Work is a Blessing

Before the fall, God gave man work, and it was a good thing. The fall simply made work harder. A common statement that I hear people say in our society is, “Why would you want to go to all that work growing and preparing food when you can have something quick and easy?” I have even got the impression that some believe a person is wasting their time by growing/making their own food.

Looking back in history, we can see the many campaigns directed at housewives to get them to dread their work in the kitchen. Advertisers worked hard to get women to buy processed ingredients, and then more recently, prepared meals. The campaigns worked, and looking back, one has to wonder how much was sacrificed in our health, finances, freedom, and joy as a people group?

What if more people started preparing meals in their kitchens (not that this has to be hard or time consuming) and gathered around the table without the distractions? Would we have more joy, better health, and be able to spend less time running around for appointments? The good news is that there is a growing interest in getting back to our roots. I want to encourage you and myself that work is a good thing and there are abundant rewards for doing hard things. I would love to hear what hard things are you doing. Simply reply to this email and a real person will read it. Blessings!
